Art of Leadership for Leaders of Color Online
For leaders of color committed to racial justice and/or have a racial justice framework in their work, advocacy, philanthropy, or organizing.
Description
The word leader is traditionally associated with executives and managers, but at Rockwood, we believe everyone can lead. The ability to inspire and align others is essential in every role, and at every level.
That’s why our Art of Leadership for Leaders of Color Online is open to leaders of color who are interested in deepening and strengthening their leadership skills. The only prerequisites are a willingness to step out of your comfort zone, to give and receive feedback on their strengths and learning edges, and to learn with and from others.
Rockwood’s Art of Leadership will provide you with:
-
Concrete Skills. Learn and practice key skills, like having difficult conversations, dealing with stress and challenging emotions, partnering with others across issue areas, and planning for large and small projects.
-
Space to Slow Down. Allow yourself to be completely present and focused on connecting with yourself and your work, while in a caring, supportive community.
-
Supportive Community. You are not alone. Connect deeply with leaders of color in your movement, in other issue areas, even outside of the nonprofit sector, and leave with a new definition of community.
Each section of the training focuses on one of Rockwood’s 6 core practices. Through guided meditation, small group exercises, games, and deep reflection, you’ll be introduced to each and learn new ways to bring them into your daily life.
Details
To foster deep learning within an online setting, this training blends various modalities to allow you to engage with your own inner wisdom, the material, and with other leaders. This training includes live facilitation via Zoom, self-paced work like personal journaling/reflection and pair/small group work to help you connect and build community with other participants online.
Each day is broken up into two, 2-3 hour Zoom sessions with an hour lunch break in between.
